Sycamore Bowl

Whilst working with a tree surgeon friend of mine Ben @ Absolute Treedom we took down a dying sycamore. One of the side branches had come off and water, along with fungal beasties had made their way into the tree.

I took this piece from that very branch where it joined the main stem. I liked the rotted out middle and natural bowl shape it had from the branch joining the trunk.

Whilst still green I've started to hollow it out playing with the idea of having different inner and outer shapes to the bowl.

Also as I started to remove some wood I noticed the bright green patterns of some fungal attack. Pretty psychedelic!
